Do you want to learn a language that can help you go around the globe? A French man named Jean-Paul Nerrière suggests the language you need is Globish.
      Globish, the combination(结合) of “Global” and “English”, is in fact a simple form of English edited by Mr. Nerrière. It has a vocabulary of only 1,500 English words and short sentences. In the language, there are no idioms or slang. Instead, there is only some basic grammar and gestures(手势) to help people understand each other.
      Mr. Nerrière is a retired vice-president of IBM in the US. He got the idea of “Globish” from many international meetings. During the meetings, usually the native speakers’ English is too difficult for people from other countries to understand. So he thought maybe a simpler form of English could make people from different countries understand each other better.
      Mr. Nerrière’s two books about Globish, Don’t Speak English, Parlez Globish and Découvrez le Globish became very popular in France and were also published in Spain, Italy, South Korea and Canada. They are also being translated into Japanese. Though some people say Globish can’t help people learn good English, Mr. Nerrière insists that his Globish is only for communicating in people’s daily life, not for cultural understanding.
